1818.112: Defence of the Resolution of the Episcopal Convention at Winchester.

Published: 1818

Full Title: A Defence of the resolution of the Episcopal Convention, held at Winchester, in May, 1818.

Author: -----

Place Issued: Winchester

Issuing Press: John Heiskell

Description: 36+ pgs.; 20 cm. (12mo)

Notes

Resolution concerned immorality of gambling, horse racing, and theatrical amusements. Only copy known, held by Library Company of Philadelphia, lacks all after p. 36 (apparently a 4th gathering, now lost). Item carries caption title only, so lacks either colophon or imprint; at this time, Heiskell was the printer-of-choice for Episcopalian publications there, especially for those of Rev. William Meade, while Heiskell's competitor, Jonathon Foster, was choice of Presbyterians, Baptists, and other denominations, so the attribution reported here.
