Notes
Imprint states: "Printed for the author at the Office of the Genius of Liberty, Leesburg, Va. 1817." That office was founded in 1817 by Samuel B.T. Caldwell, so the attribution here. The reported first edition has also been attributed to the Caldwell press (1817.076), even as it carries the simple imprint "Printed for the author, 1817" as a result of this later version; Balcom noted here that he retitled this work as Confession of the Prince of Darkness after hearing complaints about his use of the word "devil" in that for the first edition: The Devil on Politics; or, The History of Political Religion.
