Notes

Act represents the compromise forged during the November 1816 Assembly over the issues raised by the Staunton Convention; this act reorganized the Virginia Senate districts into a more equitable arrangement while granting tidewater counties some relief on land taxes (Chap. V of Acts of the November 1816 Assembly). No copy known extant; Thomas Ritchie, the public printer, was ordered on February 18, 1817, to print 1000 copies of this bill for the use of the Assembly.
