Notes
Only known copy, held in the state archives at the Library of Virginia, is dated in manuscript on November 19, 1816, the date it was received by the House; that copy also has manuscript completion of blanks in name of Goochland County; petitioners wrote in support of a plan to build a canal on the Manchester side of the James River; those requests were declined by this session of the Assembly. Sheet lacks colophon; context clearly indicates a Richmond origin; however, the multiplicity of presses operating there then make an attribution impracticable without further evidence, so the indeterminacy here.
