The present publication is prefatory to a series of Essays, in which the author proposes to explain the principles he endeavours to inculcate, as they respect Philosophy, Civics, Political Economy, Government and Theology." At this time, Ogilvie employed Thomas Ritchie (xxx) as a teacher in his academy.
