Notes
The letters herein were republished in the addenda to Jarratt's biography (The Life of the Reverend Devereux Jarratt) published in Baltimore in 1806 (Shaw & Shoemaker 10627). All surviving copies lack title page; the most complete copy, held by American Antiquarian Society (and filmed by the Early American Imprints Series) has a printer identification at the foot of the last page: "[Printed by T. Field];" in the closing letter on that page, Jarratt reports the availability of his sermons through the store of Thomas Lorrain on Bolling-brook Street; those two references indicate that this title as the work of Thomas Field's Petersburg press; Lorrain's like-named son was also a printer in that town after 1810.
