Enacted by the Assembly on January 21, 1801, in reaction to the thwarted slave insurrection of 1800 known as Gabriel's Rebellion (Chap LXX of Acts of the December 1800 Assembly). No copy known extant; Jones was ordered on January 2nd to print 250 copies of the draft act for the use of the Assembly in their deliberations over these amendments.
