Notes

Petition asking that surplus monies from the duty of tobacco be expended for erecting and maintaining new inspection warehouses. Only known copy is held in the state archives at the Library of Virginia lacks printer credit; the form is dated at end in manuscript "Dec. 2, 1800" by a clerk of the House of Delegates, showing date of submission, and so of printing; petition has blank-spaces within completed in manuscript for Prince Edward & Charlotte counties, so the authorial attribution above; given the residences of the petitioners, this broadside was likely printed in Petersburg, but an origin in Lynchburg or Richmond cannot be excluded, hence the indeterminacy here.
