1798.024: Proceedings on the Late Conduct of the General Governments.
Full Title: Proceedings in different parts of Virginia, on the subject of the late conduct of the general governments.
Place Issued: Richmond
Issuing Press: Samuel Pleasants
Description: 1 sheet [2 pgs.]; (broadside, printed in two columns recto and verso).
Resolutions from Republican public-meetings opposing the Alien and Sedition Acts: in Prince Edward on August 20 addressed to Adams, in Powhatan on September 19 addressed to the House of Representatives, and in Orange on September 24 addressed to the Assembly. Sheet lacks printer credit; as this collection was clearly organized by the state's Republican leadership, it was almost certainly issued from the Richmond press of Samuel Pleasants, then both the primary Republican printer in Virginia and a junior member of that party's central coordinating committee in the state capital.
