This session met from November 13, 1797 to July 19, 1798. The most notorious of the 106 acts passed at this session were the four laws known collectively as the Alien & Sedition Acts: the Naturalization Act of June 18 (Chap. LIV), the Alien Friends Act of June 25 (Chap. LVIII), the Alien Enemies Act of July 6 (Chap. LXVI), and the Sedition Act of July 14 (Chap. LXXIV). Davis was ordered to print 1500 copies by the Council of State on October 16, 1798.
