Compilation of correspondence received by Robert R. John Dunlap and James Hayes began work in Richmond in December 1781 as Virginia's public printers; they held the position until May 1786 with Hayes the sole resident proprietor; here Hayes omitted Dunlap's name from the imprint's colophon.
