Known commonly as the Third Virginia Convention, this meeting was in session from July 17 to August 26, 1775. With the flight of Governor Dunmore on June 8th, the delegates formed a Committee of Safety to manage the militia forces mobilized after Lexington & Concord and to put into force the ordinances enacted by the Convention – a substitute government.
