Winchester 02-19: Winchester Virginian

Starting Date: Mid-July 1840

Ending Date: before April 13, 1842

Publication Frequency: Weekly

Proprietors: James H. Carson

James Harvey Carson (1808-84) gained control of Virginian in mid-July 1840; owner Lewis Eichelberger evidently retained an interest in the weekly and reacquired Carson's share sometime between issues of December 16, 1840 and April 13, 1842 – most likely in early 1841, after presidential election was settled in favor of Whig William Henry Harrison.

Winchester Virginian is part of the Winchester Gazette Lineage. For detailed information on all the variants in the Winchester Gazette Lineage, see here.
