1821.029: Report and Resolutions of Maryland General Assembly on Potomac River.
Full Title: [Governor’s letter with report and resolutions from the general assembly of Maryland].
Author: Maryland. General Assembly.
Place Issued: Richmond
Issuing Press: Thomas Ritchie
The Maryland Assembly passed resolutions on February 16, 1821, seeking to form a joint commission with Virginia to review the progress of the Potomac Company in their clearing navigation on the river, and to assess the direction of future improvements; Gov. Samuel Sprigg was required to inform Virginia governor Thomas Mann Randolph of the request. No copy known extant; Thomas Ritchie, the public printer, was ordered to print 250 copies of this report for the use of the Assembly on February 23, 1821; while Ritchie held an interest in press office of Daniel Trueheart & Samuel Cary at this time, he also regularly subcontracted public work to that of Samuel Shepherd & William Pollard; the absence of evidence for which press he assigned this item, so making him the only tradesman identified with this title.
