1818.122: Petition seeking Bank or Brank Bank in Town of Danville (1).
Full Title: To the honorable the General Assembly ... petition ... inhabitants of the town of Danville, and the county of Pittsylvania ...
Author: Inhabitants of the Town of Danville.
Place Issued: Danville
Issuing Press: Elhanan W. Reinhart
Description: 1 sheet [1 pg.]; 35 cm. x 24 cm. (broadside).
One of at least 8 petitions (Danville, Lynchburg, and counties of Henry, Campbell, Bedford, Halifax, and Patrick) presented to the Assembly on December 11, 1818, requesting either the establishment of a newly-chartered bank at Danville, or requiring one of the state's existing banks to open a branch office there. Sheet carries colophon of Elhanan W. Reinhart, but no date; Hummel supplied a "181-?" date without consulting Assembly records; Reinhart established his press at Danville in the spring of 1818, so item was printed sometime between then and Assembly opening in December.
