Notes
No copy known extant; Ritchie was ordered to print 250 copies of this bill on February 16, 1816, for the use of the Assembly in its deliberations; an amended version of this bill was enacted on February 27, 1816 (Chap. XVIII of Acts of December 1815 Assembly). This project was advocated by one-time editor John Wood and supported by Gov. Nicholas, who hired Wood under the provisions of the ensuing act in October 1816; Wood died before the project was completed, leaving his assistant to finish the maps required, and so claiming the bibliographic credit for the whole, as Herman Bὄye's map of Virginia of 1827.
