This work restates the first of five religious principles that Henkel discussed in his Christian Catechism, Composed for the Instruction of Youth (1811.086); both were juvenile adaptations of his earlier Kleine Catechismus des Martin Luthers (1809.067 & 1811.085), which was itself an adaptation of Luther's Small Catechism of 1529.
