1809.010: Act concerning Executions.
Published: 1809
Full Title: An act concerning executions, and for other purposes.
Author: Virginia. General Assembly.
Place Issued: Richmond
Issuing Press: Samuel Pleasants
Description: Unrecorded
Notes
Deliberation over suspending debt executions for the duration of the 1807 Embargo led to the passage of this law, which allowed for suspending, deferring, and postponing such executions in a wide variety of circumstances; Swem reported this item with the erroneous title "Act suspending Executions;" title here from act itself (Chap. V of Acts of December 1808 Assembly). No copy known extant; Pleasants was ordered to print 1000 copies of the law on January 31, 1809, for the use of members of the Assembly, apparently for distribution in their districts.
