Legislation proposed for protecting tidewater Virginia following the attack on the U.S. frigate Chesapeake by HMS Leopard off Norfolk in June 1807. Pleasants was ordered to print 250 copies of this item on December 19, 1807, for the use of the House of Delegates during this session; the Assembly passed an amended version of this bill on February 8, 1808 (Chap. VIII of Acts of the December 1807 Assembly). No copy known extant; title supplied from that assigned to the law later enacted.
