Sheet reports the society's appropriation of funds for the Washington Academy in Lexington; the gift emulated that of the society's first national president, George Washington, in 1796 endowing the former Liberty Hall Academy, so causing the academy's trustees to rename the school in his honor; it continues in operation today as the Washington & Lee University. Imprint lacks printer credit; as with many of the society's printed records, an unnamed Richmond press was employed to print this particular report. Only known copy held by the Virginia Historical Society was not filmed by the Early American Imprints Series.
