Full Title: To the honorable the General Assembly of the commonwealth of Virginia. The petition of sundry freeholders and farmers of the county of [blank] humbly sheweth, that great advantages have resulted to them from the establishment of a bank in the town of Alexandria.
Author: Freeholders and Farmers of Alexandria Area.
Place Issued: Virginia
Issuing Press: Uncertain
Description: 1 sheet [1 pg.]; 36 cm. x 24 cm. (broadside).
Petitioners ask for an extension of charter of the Bank of Alexandria for twenty-five years. Sheet lacks printer credit and date. Only recorded copy held in the state archives at the Library of Virginia is dated at end in manuscript "Dec. 11, 1799" by a clerk of the House of Delegates, indicating date of submission, and so of production; that copy also has the blanks completed in manuscript for Stafford County; those completions raise the possibility that the petition issued from Fredericksburg, rather than from Alexandria as suggested by Bristol, so the indeterminate origin reported here.
