Notes

Petitioners ask for an extension of charter of the Bank of Alexandria for twenty-five years. Sheet lacks printer credit and date. Only recorded copy held in the state archives at the Library of Virginia is dated at end in manuscript "Dec. 11, 1799" by a clerk of the House of Delegates, indicating date of submission, and so of production; that copy also has the blanks completed in manuscript for Stafford County; those completions raise the possibility that the petition issued from Fredericksburg, rather than from Alexandria as suggested by Bristol, so the indeterminate origin reported here.
