1774.022: Association of August 1774.

Published: 1774

Full Title: At a very full meeting of delegates from the different counties in the colony and dominion of Virginia, begun in Williamsburg the first day of August, in the year of our Lord 1774, and continued by several adjournments to Saturday the 6th of the same month, the following association was unanimously resolved upon and agreed to.

Author: Virginia. Convention of August 1774 (First Convention).

Place Issued: Williamsburg

Issuing Press: Clementina Rind

Description: 1 sheet ([1] p.) 33 cm. x 19 cm. (broadside).

Notes

Considered today the "First Virginia Convention," the assembled delegates drafted a call for all Virginians to cease commercial dealings with merchants in Great Britain. Sheet lacks printer credit; typography consistent with that seen from press of Clementina Rind; Bristol attributed this title to Rind press as well. Author is sometimes reported as the Virginia General Assembly, but such had been dissolved by Governor Dunmore in May 1774.
